Understanding the real issue/s

“You can’t heal what you won’t face.” – Iyanla Vanzant

What is generally seen on the outside and referred to as challenges are usually symptoms of something more elaborate and deeper. We are not adequately equipped to express our emotions and they cannot identify the belief systems and patterns that have led to external behaviour. To help them fully, the root causes are delved into and discovered. While a child may exhibit extreme anger and arrogance on the outside, the inner emotion causing the same may be that of fear, utter helplessness, being too sensitive to what people say or low self-esteem.

A similar process exists with adults or grown-up children, as over the years as children, we go through experiences that have formed our belief systems and patterns. We respond and react to things around us based on our thoughts, which are guided by the inner story. Emotions play a very important role there, as adults, we learn to suppress our emotions, the same get stored somewhere in our body. The suppressed and stored emotions cause us dis-ease within the body. Feels unreal? Well think of it this way, we develop a headache…each one of us has gone through an experience of a headache, haven’t we? What happens when we go through a headache? It begins with a mild form generally, and when we let time pass by, it gets aggravated, to the point where we stop everything, and rest. Correct? Now let us think deeper, one of the emotional causes for headaches is overthinking and the internal chewing of thoughts, when we stop and rest, we get distracted and forget the thoughts that were otherwise clouding us, temporarily. It is like our body hit the reset button, overthinking solved, headache vanishes.

Let us take example of another very common thing that each one of us has experienced during life, Appetite loss or sudden spike in appetite. When does this happen? It happens when we face Fear. Fear makes us judge our emotions, we seek protection, we start questioning whether we will be able to face life and the challenges thrown at us. We face a change in appetite in such situations in life when we face Fear. Our appetite is seen to normalise when we address the situation causing us Fear. So many of us are so fearful of the reality that we suppress the emotions that need to surface, and then often wonder why we sink into an emotional abyss.

What Is Generally Seen on The Outside and Referred to As Issues, Are Just Symptoms of Something More Elaborate and Deeper….

In trying our best to avoid the “negative” emotions, very often we suppress our ability to feel the “positive” emotions, sometimes we get to a point of not being able to feel anything. Once we get there, that “bottom”, we can experience something that hits so close to home that we “HAVE TO DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE THIS”.

For instrumental and deep growth, it is important to open up what is hidden beneath our external defences. Opening up parts of our self, that we probably were ignorant about. It is necessary to show inner depths of our self that were necessary for us to access in order for us to expand our mission. Depths that required me to embrace our inner selves.
